Our PM 2.5 Indoor Air Monitoring Program is grounded in rigorous data and community engagement. Utilizing Cal-Enviro Screen 4.0 and Environmental Justice Screening tools, we've identified critical issues in our target areas. PM 2.5 levels are at an 89th percentile and asthma rates at 96th. The ATB Air Monitoring program is focused on sustainable public health improvements. We will distribute air quality monitoring tools and provide educational resources to empower residents to take preventive measures. The aim is to achieve a tangible reduction in indoor PM 2.5 levels, which directly correlates to lower rates of respiratory conditions.
Our Outdoor Air Monitoring Program will provide actionable data on elevated PM 10 and VOC levels. This real-time data will equip our community members with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed decisions about their health. By implementing cutting-edge air quality monitoring systems like IQ Air's real-time visual platform, we will offer immediate, actionable data on PM 10 and VOC levels. This will empower not only residents but also policymakers to take swift, informed corrective action.
Every Saturday, our community owned Youth, Adult, and Senior EJ Street Team interactively educates Bayview Community residents on public health, cumulative impacts, awareness of legal rights, environmental protections, and sustainable community development. Our EJ Street teams actively and effectively participate in local, state, and federal environmental policy decision-making processes.
Our Health and Environmental Justice students receive specialized training in environmental crisis response, including basic first aid, emergency communication, and hazard identification. This comprehensive educational training program aims to prepare Bayview Hunters Point residents for environmental disasters, severe weather events and develop environmental justice ambassadors focused on public health protection, addressing environmental issues fundamentally linked to improving public health. Students learn how to identify and report environmental hazards like illegal dumping, water contamination, and air pollution. Students are also introduced to local, state and federal governance structures arranged for their participation in community board meetings, town halls, and legislative sessions.
